Biblical Evidence of Twin Flames

The Holy Bible shows evidence that the concept of Twin Flames is not a concept but real.

When reading the Bible, the understanding of Twin Flames can be hard to see. That’s because this phenomenon is not the main focus or point of the Bible. But because the Bible focuses a lot on the soul, there are a few verses where the understanding of Twin Flames can be seen.

What are Twin Flames?

Twin Flames are two people that share a soul. Their soul was created as one soul but the soul split. Since the soul split, one individual has the male energy and the other individual has the female energy. When the two souls meet, they unite back together and merge as one soul, thus, making them one soul.

An article on the website Spiritual Unite can help explain the meaning:

“Originating from these spheres is matter, then the souls would come forth which are counterpart of spirit spheres. These are called twin flames because they from the original single void. The presence of these unique soul is the exact duplicate of each other. As the souls are born into a physical body, one can assume the positive or negative, either masculine or feminine.”

Biblical Evidence

Now that we have the definition of Twin Flames how can this understanding be seen in God’s Word? Well, quite easily if we remove some of the taught interpretations of the Bible and begin to ask God for His wisdom and understanding of His Word.

Genesis 1

In a past post called Be Fruitful and Multiply, I explain how Genesis chapter 1 is giving an account of how God made the world spiritually. Everything that has life on Earth, God made spiritually. Out of the six days of creation, the only things that were physical were the sea and the dry land. But everything that has life such as plants, animals, and humans were all created in a spiritual state in Genesis 1.

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

When God created mankind, He made us in His image, “Let Us make man in Our image” Genesis 1:26. With reading this verse, we can understand that we resemble God. Jesus tells us that “God is spirit” in John 4:24. So, spiritually our image resembles our Heavenly Father’s. The verse then goes on to say, “according to Our likeness”. When we go on to read the 27th verse, we then discover the likeness of God to be Male and Female. Our soul then, which is the spiritual body, is made in the image and likeness of God.

The Bible shows a distinction between the image and likeness of God and humanity. When God formed man from the dust of the ground in Genesis 2, God gave Adam his physical body enabling him to have a son in his own image and likeness. In Genesis 5, verse 3 tells us that “When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth”. Adam’s image is the body, flesh. Adam’s likeness was that he was a man. So, Seth was the son according to Adam’s image and likeness.

Genesis 5:1-2, before getting to Adam and Seth it says, “In the day when God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created”. God named our soul Man, and created it in His likeness, which is male and female.

Twin Flames are one soul in two bodies but in the spiritual they are one soul. So, when we look at Genesis 1:27 and see that it says, “in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them”, it says “him” and then “them”. The male and the female are one soul, just like in the physical when a man and a woman become ‘one flesh’. Jesus says in Matthew 19:6, “So they are no longer two, but one flesh”. Twin Flames because one individual is the male and the other female, they come together to make one soul.

When God created the first male and female soul in Genesis 1:27, He then commands that soul in verse 28 to “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it”. All souls were spiritually ‘one’ in the beginning. But when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit in Genesis 3, this caused for the male and female soul to separate. Adam and Eve were Twin Flames, they were one soul. Which is why it took both of them to eat of the fruit, enlightening the ‘one’ soul. “The eyes of both of them were opened” Genesis 3:7. And because God commanded them to “multiply” spiritually, when their soul became in enlightened it enlightened all the other souls, they multiplied in Genesis 1. Thus, sin separated the male and female souls. Leaving the male without the female and the female without the male.

1 Samuel 18

The story of Jonathan and David begins by telling us what is happening spiritually between the two men.

“Now it came about when he had finished speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as himself” 1 Samuel 18:1

In an article on the Twin Flame Expert it says, “Soul merger occurs upon initial physical-soul contact. The twin souls have recognized each other on the higher level and now the energy between the two of them connects, merging the two souls”. One of the men held the male energy and the other the female energy, making Jonathan and David one soul. The NIV Bible writes it, “Jonathan became one in spirit with David”.

Twin Flames also love one another on the highest and purest level which is unconditional love. Sylvia Salow from Thought Catalog explains, “Your heart is bursting with unconditional love for your twin, and there has never been anything that you ever wanted more than to be with them”. When we look at the relationship between David and Jonathan, we can see this beautiful, pure, and sacrificial love that they held for one another.

Even though Jonathan and David were men, one of them still held the female energy. The “gender” of the soul does not have to be the same as the body. A post on Conscious Reminder helps to understand this.

“When describing twin flames as females or males, it is not about spiritual terms or biological woman and man. It indicates the nature that these energies have, and also the archetypal female and male energies are just terms utilized to portray two different types of energies, embodying different traits.
However, this doesn’t mean that the energies express themselves or belong in female or male bodies. In fact, human culture was the one that equated them with each other.”

Deuteronomy 13:6

Jonathan and David are what we would presently call Twin Flames. But in the Bible, it is understood as the friend who's as your own soul.

“If your brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul” Deuteronomy 13:6

Conclusion

The Bible fully acknowledges the spiritual union that two individuals can have. Even in Proverbs 18:24 when it says, “but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother”.

God made us all Twin Flames and the Bible shows proof of this. Though the Bible doesn’t give a lot of detail about this subject, it is undeniably there. But to see it, one must put down traditions and interpretations to see what the Bible is telling us spiritually.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” Romans 12:2 NLT
